This Privacy Policy explains what information the Thotrin La mobile app ("the app") collects, why it is collected, where it is stored, and the choices available to you. The app is a hymnal that lets you read and save song lyrics. It does not require an account, and it does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, camera, microphone, or advertising identifier.

The app does not use third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar). All network traffic goes to a single backend operated by the app's developer.

2. Information stored only on your device

The following information never leaves your device. It is held in the app's private on-device storage:

The downloaded song catalogue (titles, authors, lyrics).
Your list of favourite song numbers.
Your chosen colour theme and dark/light mode.
Your chosen lyrics font size.
A small set of "you have seen this hint" flags so one-time gesture tips don't reappear.
The version number of the song catalogue you last downloaded.

This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage from Android Settings.

3. Information sent to our backend

The app sends a small amount of information to a backend server operated by the app's developer.

3.1 Anonymous usage counts

To understand which songs are read most often and how often each tab is opened, the app records:

When you open a song's lyrics screen.
When you open the Theme tab.
When you open the About tab.
When you open the Favourites tab.
When you add or remove a favourite.

These events are not tied to an account because the app has no accounts. They are not tied to an advertising ID, a Google account, or a stable identifier we create. The backend records the count of the event; it cannot reconstruct an individual user's history from this data.

3.2 Device descriptors

Song-view and theme-view events include three short text fields about the device:

deviceName — the name your operating system reports for the device (for example, "Pixel 8" or whatever you have named your device in Android Settings).
deviceManufacturer — for example, "Google", "Samsung", "OnePlus".
deviceModelName — for example, "Pixel 8", "SM-G998U".

On many Android devices deviceName is a generic model string, but if you have customised your device name (for example, "Rin's Pixel") that custom name will be sent. If you do not want a custom device name to be sent, rename your device in Android Settings → About phone → Device name before opening the app.

These fields are used only in aggregate to understand which device families the app is used on, so the developer can prioritise bug fixes and performance work.

3.3 Error reports

If the app encounters an unexpected error (for example, a failed network request), it sends a report that contains:

The error message.
The stack trace produced by the JavaScript runtime (file names and line numbers from inside the app's own code).
A timestamp.

Stack traces refer to code inside the app and do not contain your personal data. They are used solely to diagnose and fix bugs.

3.4 Catalogue downloads

The app downloads the song catalogue and checks for new versions. These requests do not send any information about you.

4. Information we do not collect

The app does not:

Ask you to create an account or log in.
Ask for or upload your name, email, phone number, date of birth, or any other contact information.
Read your contacts, calendar, SMS, call log, photos, files, or microphone.
Track your precise or approximate location.
Use any advertising identifier or run any advertising network.
Include third-party analytics, attribution, or A/B testing SDKs.
Sell or share your data with data brokers, marketing networks, or any third parties.

The app requests no Android runtime permissions for personal data. The only system features it uses are vibration (for tap haptics), display, network access, and access to its own private storage.

5. How information is stored and secured

On-device data is held in the app's private storage. Other apps cannot read it.
All network requests are made over HTTPS (TLS).
Aggregated counts and error reports are retained for as long as they are useful for understanding usage and fixing bugs. Device-descriptor fields and error stack traces older than 18 months are deleted on a rolling basis.

6. Sharing with third parties

User data is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

Distribution stores (Google Play, Apple App Store) collect their own data when you install or update the app under their respective policies; that data is not visible to the developer except as anonymised store statistics.

7. Your choices and rights

Because the app does not have accounts, there is no profile to delete. However:

Remove all on-device data — uninstall the app, or clear its storage from Android Settings → Apps → Thotrin La → Storage → Clear storage. No data sent to the server is tied to a stable identifier we can use to remove individual records, so once a count event is sent it is part of an aggregate.
Stop sending device descriptors — uninstall the app, or use a generic device name (Android Settings → About phone → Device name) before opening the app.

If you live in a jurisdiction with formal data-subject rights (for example, the EU/EEA under GDPR, the UK under UK-GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may exercise those rights by contacting the developer through the contact information shown on the app's listing in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Note that for most of the data the app sends, there is no way to associate a record with you specifically because no identifiers are collected.

8. Children's privacy

The app is a general-audience hymnal. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the threshold).

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Effective date" at the top of this document will be updated and the new version will be posted at the same URL referenced by the Play Store listing. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
